V6 - Assign Version 6 to Students and Staff

This guide walks administrators through how to assign Typing Agent Version 6 to your staff and students.

Written by Gia Deleveaux

Not everyone immediately has access to Typing Agent’s newest version - Version 6. We describe how to assign this new experience to administrators, teachers, and/or students.

Before You Begin

You must be signed in with an administrator account that has permission to manage school or district settings.

Changes made in the Login Experience section may apply district-wide, depending on your account and organization setup.

Step 1: Open School Settings

  1. Sign in to Typing Agent as an administrator.

  2. Select Settings from the left navigation menu.

  3. In the Settings panel, select School Portal.

Step 2: Find the Login Experience Settings

Scroll to the Login Experience section.

This section controls where users land after signing in, including users who enter through an older Legacy/Classic login link.

Step 3: Enable Version 6 for Students

  1. Locate Enable V6 for students.

  2. Turn the switch on. (The switch will turn from gray to blue when it's on.)

When this setting is enabled, students will enter the Version 6 student experience after signing in.

When it is turned off, students will continue to enter the Legacy/Classic experience.

Important: The page indicates that this is a district-wide setting. Enabling it may affect students at every school in the district.

Step 4: Enable Version 6 for Staff

  1. Locate Enable V6 for staff.

  2. Turn the switch on.

When enabled, teachers, school administrators, and standalone staff accounts can use the Version 6 staff experience.

Step 5: Choose the Default Staff Experience

Under Default staff experience:

  1. Open the dropdown menu.

  2. Select V6.

This makes Version 6 the default destination for staff after they sign in.

Selecting Legacy/Classic keeps the Legacy/Classic interface as the default.

Administrators may still be able to use a direct Staff V6 link as a recovery option if they need to access the other experience.

Step 6: Confirm the Settings

Before leaving the page, confirm that:

  • Enable V6 for students is turned on.

  • Enable V6 for staff is turned on.

  • Default staff experience is set to V6.

What Users Will Experience

After the settings are enabled:

  • Students will land in the Version 6 student experience after signing in.

  • Teachers and other staff will have access to Staff V6.

  • Staff will enter Version 6 by default when V6 is selected as the default staff experience.

  • Older login links can still direct users to the selected Version 6 experience.

Troubleshooting

Students still see Legacy/Classic

Confirm that Enable V6 for students is on. Ask the student to sign out completely, close the browser tab, and sign in again.

Staff still see Legacy/Classic

Confirm that Enable V6 for staff is on and that Default staff experience is set to V6.

A setting cannot be changed

The option is controlled at the administrator level. Only the main administrator has access to all areas. That person delineates who has permission to modify school- or district-wide settings. Contact your administrator or Typing Agent Support for assistance.

Changes do not appear immediately

Have the user sign out and sign back in. (Refreshing an existing session may not apply the new login destination immediately.)
