Main Administrators use Grade Settings to control which curricula, games, rewards, and lesson options are available to each grade level.
Settings are managed one grade at a time, and changes do not take effect until they are saved.
Open Grade Settings
Sign in to Typing Agent Version 6 as a Main Administrator.
Select Settings from the left navigation menu.
Select Grade Settings from the Settings panel.
At the top of the page, choose the grade you want to edit:
K
1–12
The selected grade is highlighted.
Apply One Grade’s Settings to All Grades
To use the current grade as a starting point for every grade:
Configure the selected grade.
Select Apply [grade] to all grades in the upper-right corner.
Review the other grade levels before saving.
Use this option carefully because it may replace grade-specific settings across the school.
Configure Curriculum Access
The Curriculum section determines which learning programs are available to students in the selected grade. When student accounts are created, they are automatically assigned the keyboarding curriculum for that grade level.
Suggested grade levels are provided for each curriculum; however, the adult in the room may decide to disregard our suggestions and assign them if they want their students to do them and will be there to support their learning.
Each curriculum has an on/off switch.
Visible curriculum options include:
Keyboarding Foundations K–2
Blizzard Type Essentials (Grades 3-12) Students in K-2 will receive appropriate content if they are assigned this curriculum at their grade level.
Digital Citizenship (Grades 3-8)
Type Your Own Adventure (Grades 3-8)
SEL (Social and Emotional Learning)
Basic Code (Grades 3-5)
Advanced Code Typing (Grades 3-8)
Agent Challenge (Grades 3-12)
Spanish (Grades 3-12)
Yeti Code (Grades K-5)
Abyss Typer Adaptive (Game) (Grades 3-12)
Pío Spanish Typing (Grades K-2)
Writing Workshop (Grades 2-8) Older students may use this, too.

Games
The Games section controls how students in the selected grade use the arcade.

Use the main Games switch to turn game access on or off for the entire grade.
When games are disabled, students in that grade should not have access to the available game list.
Show Class Leaderboards
Turn on Show class leaderboards to let students see how their class ranks for accuracy first, then speed. Turn it off if your school does not want students comparing scores.
Note that only the top six leaders in each class are shown to their class. Students lower than 6th place will be shown their position, but this is not available to other students.
Allow Avatar Customization
Turn on Allow students to customize their avatar to let students spend earned coins in the avatar creator.
Turn it off to keep avatars fixed or teacher-managed.
Use GritCoins
Turn on Use GritCoins to enable the in-app reward economy.
Turn it off if the school does not want students earning or spending GritCoins.
Set the XP Requirement for Games
The Experience points needed field controls how much XP a student must earn before games unlock.
Enter the required XP amount.
Enter 0 if games should unlock immediately.
Use a higher number when students should complete more learning activities before gaining access to games.
Choose Available Games
Under Available Games, turn individual games on or off for the selected grade.
Visible options include:
Blizzard Defense
Meteor Rush
Canabalt
Full Throttle
Mine Type Extreme

This setting may be used in upper grade levels should those students need assistance learning this skill.
Bypass Experience Points
Turn on Bypass experience points to let students advance without meeting the normal XP requirement.
Turn it off when students should earn the required XP before moving forward or unlocking content.
Enable Type Your Own Adventure Audio
Turn on Enable Type Your Own Adventure audios to play narration in the Type Your Own Adventure curriculum.

Set Test Attempts
Use the Test attempts options to select the number of times students may take a scheduled test you created.
Visible choices include:
1 time
2 times
3 times
If students take that Scheduled Test more than once, we show how often they started the test, how many times they completed it, and their adjusted Words Per Minute and Accuracy based on their completed tests.
Save the Grade Settings
After making changes:
Review the curriculum, games, and lesson settings.
Select Save changes at the bottom of the page.
Wait for confirmation that the settings have been saved.
To leave without applying the changes, select Discard.
The page displays an unsaved changes message until you save or discard your edits.
Recommended Grade-by-Grade Workflow
For each grade:
Select the grade at the top.
Enable the appropriate curricula.
Decide whether students should have game access.
Set leaderboard, avatar, GritCoin, and XP rules.
Choose the individual games available.
Configure lesson options and test duration.
Save the changes.
Repeat for the next grade.
Important Considerations
Use grade-specific settings rather than giving every grade the same experience automatically. Younger students may benefit from mouse lessons, audio support, shorter tests, and K–2 curriculum. Older students may need more advanced typing, coding, writing, or adaptive practice.
