If you have K-2 students, students with special needs, or students who may otherwise have difficulty remembering login usernames and passwords, it may be best to use Simple Login. Simple Login permits students to log into Typing Agent using three easy-to-remember symbols for their passwords. By using Simple Login, students get into Typing Agent easily hence giving them more time to practice their keyboarding and technology skills.

Because it can only be activated at class-level, Standalone Single School Administrators, School Administrators (within a district) and Teachers can enable this feature. You may use this from the beginning of the school year or whenever you find it is needed.

Setting Up Simple Login

First, select your class from the left-hand side of the screen.

Now, select the Settings tab.

Scroll down until you see the boxes Show Passwords and Enable Simple Login. Check both of these boxes. When you Enable Simple Login, the program will generate a three-symbol password for your students. By showing passwords, you can see them in your class.

You will also notice that there is a dialogue that will appear that says that will have your classroom's unique web address (URL). The one below is mine but yours will look similar:

Write down or copy the web address. You’ll need this information because this is the new web address your students in this classroom will need to get into their Typing Agent accounts.

Hit Update when you are done.

Now, select your Students tab.

You will be able to see all the passwords that have been generated for each student.

Now, you will need to share the URL from the previous step with your students. This goes to the login page for your students to get to your classroom. You may print this information and share it with your students. Our guide shows how to print login cards.

When students sign up, they will select their name from the roster at the top left. From here, they will enter their “secret code” - the Simple Login password that you have generated for them.

They can now log in to the program to begin typing!

Resetting Simple Login Password(s)

Should you want to reset any student or group of students’ Simple Login passwords, select your class from the left-hand side of the screen.

Now, select your Students tab.

Check the box(es) next to the name(s) of the student(s) whose password(s) you’d like to reset. Then, select Reset Password from the right fly-out menu.

Select the blue Reset button next to the New Simple Password text.

Now, your student(s) will have a newly generated password to log in with.
