Adding Staff

How to add staff members.

District Administrator

As a District Administrator, you are responsible for loading your schools, classrooms, staff, and students into Typing Agent. The most efficient and error-proof way to get your district’s data set up is to load them in this order:  schools, classrooms, then teachers, then students.

Staff can be added in the following ways:

  • In bulk with a manual CSV file upload process

  • Through a third-party rostering system such as ClassLink, Clever or Google Classroom

  • By a single staff upload

  • By teacher self-registration (in which staff members create their own usernames and passwords as they enroll in your classroom). 

CSV

NOTE: CSV files needs to be saved as a UTF-8 encoded file.

There are two methods of uploading your students via a CSV. While all will result in the same outcome of your students being uploaded, sample CSV templates and details on the exact data required can be found wherever you find the opportunity to upload the students.

Note: the program accepts letters and numbers, and the special characters _(underscore), -(dash), and @(at).

Method 1:

You can upload your students via CSV by selecting Upload Your Staff from your Dashboard.

From here, you will be directed to upload your CSV file.

Method 2:

You can upload your students via CSV by navigating to User Management from your Dashboard.

From here, select the green + Students & Staff button.

Now, select Import Staff

From here, you will be directed to upload your CSV file.

 

Single Staff Upload

You can add your staff members one at a time directly into Typing Agent if you have a single or very small number to upload. 

First, navigate to User Management from your Dashboard.

Then, select the green + Students & Staff button.

Now, select Add Individual Staff.

Now, you can fill out the webform to add a single student into a school in Typing Agent. When you are finished, select Create.

 

Adding Teachers with School Code

First, you will need to enable a self-registration link on your accounts unique login page. 

To do this, navigate to School Management from your Dashboard.

From here, select School Portal.

 

Scroll all the way down until you see a checkbox under Sign up Options - select Allow Teachers Sign up.

 

When your staff members navigate to your school's Typing Agent page, they will see an option for Teacher Self-Registration.

 This is where they will register, enter the school code, and enroll into your school.


Standalone Single School Administrator

As the school administrator of a single, standalone school, you are responsible for loading your classrooms, staff, and students into Typing Agent. The most efficient and error-proof way to get your school's data set up is to load them in this order: staff, classrooms, then students.

Staff can be added in the following ways:

  • In bulk with a manual CSV file upload process

  • Through a third-party rostering system such as ClassLink, Clever or Google Classroom

  • By individual staff upload

  • By teacher self-registration (in which staff create their own usernames and passwords as they enroll into your school).

(Note: In order to format correctly, CSV files needs to be saved as a UTF-8 encoded file.)

Method 2:

You can upload your staff using a CSV file by navigating to User Management from your Dashboard.

From here, select the green + Students & Staff button.

Now, select Import Staff.

From here, you will be directed to upload your CSV file.

Individual Staff

You can add your staff one at a time to your school so that you can assign them a classroom.

First, navigate to User Management from your Dashboard.

Then, select the green + Students & Staff button.

Now, select Add Individual Staff.

Now, you can fill out the webform to add a single staff member into Typing Agent.

Teacher Self-Registration (School Code Required)

There are two steps required to enable teacher self-registration with a class code. First, you will need to enable a self-registration link on your accounts unique login page.

To do this, navigate to your Admin button, then to School Management.

From here, select School Portal.

Scroll all the way down until you see a checkbox under Sign up Options - select Allow Teachers Sign up. The school code is the code that they will sign in with.

When your staff members navigate to your school's Typing Agent page, they will see an option for Teacher Self-Registration. Click Teacher Self-Registration button

This is where they will register, enter the school code, and enroll into your school.
