Typing Agent is a completely web-based program which means that no matter where your students are, as long as they have an internet connection they can log into the program and continue to progress in their keyboarding and technology skills. Logging in with their credentials, they will literally enter into the program exactly where they left off at school and can continue moving forward and teachers can continue to monitor their time and progress from their dashboard just like you were at school. Here’s a few features and tips that will enhance your remote learning experience:

If you haven’t done so already be sure to print login cards for your students to take home and they can use them as a reference on how to login to the program. Student Login Cards can be found in each classroom.  Select the student(s) then Print Login Cards from the fly-out menu.  Important Note: Due to our privacy policy we are not allowed to provide login information to students or parents who contact us. We will ask them to reach out to their teacher for this information.

Rather than distributing login cards, admins and teachers can opt to have their Teachers and students self-register into the program from wherever they are and off they go.  Learn more about how to enable self-registration here:

With our calendar feature teachers can assign lesson due dates to students and notify them of any classwork homework you expect to be done by a certain date.
Students will be notified of these due dates via the calendar icon on their dashboard and can have multiple lessons due each week.

From your Classroom Dashboard, click Settings >Curriculum

Then click the Folder Icon on the top right of the curriculum tile you would like to assign from

Scroll to the lesson or lessons you would like to assign a due date for and click on the calendar icon on the top right corner above the lesson. You can schedule one or several due dates at a time.

Using the Announcement feature inside each classroom, teachers can communicate with their students or a particular student about what they would like them to do for the day or week.  Announcements are classroom based and can be found in the ellipses dropdown menu on the top right.  Be sure to click the calendar to set your announcement start and end date.  Students will see your announcement as soon as they login to the program and the announcement will end on the date you predetermine.

The notepad feature allows students to communicate with their teacher with either a free-typed assignment or a message about what they accomplished that day.  Once the student submits the notepad document it will be immediately available on the teachers classroom dashboard for review.

Typing Agent offers a plethora of printable offline activities that teachers can use for pre-typists or to supplement older students online keyboarding activities. 

We separate our offline activities into two suggested grade level categories, K-2 activities are suitable for our youngest typists and K-2+ activities, are more suitable
for students in 2nd grade and higher.  Ultimately it's up to our teachers to determine the suitability of each offline activity we provide.  We strive to create more content as we go along.

Typing Agent offers fully editable letters in both English and Spanish that you can print or email home to your families introducing the program and any remote information to them.  Parent Letters can be found by navigating to any classroom, just click on the "..." or ellipses symbol on the top right, select which Parent Letter you would like to use and download/edit from there.

One of the newest features we have added for both teachers and students is the My Weekly Learning Activity and Report.   As a teacher teaching remotely, this weekly information is a great way to monitor just how well students are progressing in their skills and for students, it compels them to take responsibility for their practicing habits. Here's how to navigate to both of these areas:

First, select your Class from your dashboard.

Then, select your Reports tab.

Now, select the Weekly Activity report from the tile menu.

You can select which date ranges you’d like to view this for from these listed below.

The report will give an overview of the following:

Time Period - The 7-day time span from which the information is collected;  Monday to Sunday, the school week.
​Student - The name, not username, of the student.
​How often? - Details how many days the student logged in over a specified time period.
​How long? - Shows how long the student was actively engaged in the program over that time period.
​How well? - States the student’s average accuracy over a specified time period.
​How fast? - Gives you the student’s average WPM over a specified time period.
​Real speed? - Provides the student's Adjusted WPM (AWPM) over a specified time period. This number is a truer representation of the student's typing speed as the errors have been subtracted from the raw typing scores.  
​Grade - Tabulates the grade the student earned over a specified time period.

From the student's interface (Phone home), the student will select the Progress tile.

From here, they can view a “lightbulb” infographic, which is an individual report of their own weekly progress. The information the student sees mimics the teacher's report with everything except the grade earned; only teachers get that information.
